Royal Copenhagen porcelain wall plaque "Love Ages #15"

This relief moulded Royal Copenhagen wall plaque is made of biscuit porcelain and features Psyche, the goddess of the soul, handing out small cupids, which symbolises love. It is entitled "Love Ages #15", or the "Ages of Love". There are holes in the top for wire or cord, that allow it to be hung on a wall, or it could be supported on a stand for display. It is after the Danish sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen's (1770-1844) relief sculpture of the mid 1800's, which itself was based on an ancient relief. It measures 310 mm (just over 12 inches) in width, 125 mm (5 inches) high and is 11 mm (.5 of an inch) thick. It is in very good condition, but there is a small chip to the edge at the rear on one side which is not particularly noticeable from the front. The Royal Copengagen mark used on this plaque was in use from 1870-90.
