Plaster wall plaque
This very decorative plaster wall plaque features a raised profile of a medieval woman whose countenance contains a certain serenity or calmness. Surrounding her portrait is a wreath of laurel leaves tied with ribbons. It would be seen to best advantage against a darker coloured wall.
The diameter is 380 mm (15 inches) and it is 35 mm (1.5 inches) deep. There is a small chip to the rim as can be seen in the photo at about 2 o'clock and a few small areas of discolouration where it has aged over the years. I would think this piece would date from the 1920's, or perhaps earlier.
