Loro Blonyo or the “inseparable couple’ are a carved wooden pair of central Javanese matrimonial figures that were historically revered and centrally placed within traditional Javanese homes. The figures hark back to pre-Islamic culture on Java and later were incorporated into the syncretic ritual practices of the Javanese. 

Loro Blonyo were once a prominent part of Javanese culture with sacred values and a significant role within traditional Javanese wedding ceremonies and embody the synchronicity between Hinduism, Buddhism and the Muslim religions within Java.
