Pietra dura wall plaque in ornate brass frame
This very decorative Pietra dura wall plaque sits in an ornate moulded brass frame, parts of which are highlighted with silver and copper. The panel itself features a spray of carnations formed from green, pink and white stone applied to a black slate or marble ground. The pieces of stone have been carved to produce realistic looking flowers and foliage. The height of the frame is 430 mm (17 inches) and the width 210 mm ( 8.25 inches). There have been some very minor repairs to some leaves that have been reglued to the ground. It is Italian and would date from around 1870.
