Pearlware hand painted blue and white bowl
This pearlware hand painted blue and white bowl is decorated with Chinoiserie scenes inside and out. The decoration is very like those shown on pages 95-6 of Lois Roberts' "Painted in Blue", and so this bowl is attributed to a Liverpool factory. Probably a punch bowl, it measures 230 mm (9 inches) in diameter and stands 95 mm (3.75 inches) high. There are two small chips to the rim, two hairline cracks to the rim, a small area of discolouration to the inside and some chips to the inside of the footrim. It would date from around 1780.
