Majolica bread plate or tray
The outside of this majolica bread plate or tray is encircled with the motto "Eat thy bread with thankfulness". Central to this plate is a representation of a basket which is surrounded by ears of wheat and foliage. It has been used with the central basket showing signs of use, and there are some slightly rough areas to the rim, but just imagine the conversations it has heard over the last 140 or so years. The width is 335 mm (13.25 inches), the depth is 287 mm (11.25 inches) and it stands 45 mm (1.75 inches) high. C 1880.
