Handmade jug by Jolliff (F.E. Cox)

This jug was made by Frederick Edwin Cox (1871-1955). Cox was born in England and moved to Australia in 1913. He didn't start potting until he was sixty and continued almost up to his death in 1955. He named his pottery "Jolliff" using his mother's maiden name. This jug with a wide, flaring top and a rustic handle, and stands 100 mm high with a diameter of 126 mm. It is glazed with a turquoise colour containing streaks of green over a reddish brown colour. It is in excellent condition. It is dated 1950.
