French Mid Century ‘Peacock’ Tapestry by Claude Bleynie (1923 - 2016) for Jean Laurent, circa 1960’s, titled: “Bouquet d'oiseaux Rouge”

A fabulous mid century modern French wall tapestry by Claude Bleynie (1923 - 2016) for Jean Laurent. Entitled “Bouquet d’oiseaux Rouge”. Depicting a decorative scene of flowers with two elegant and stylised peacocks. Woven wool, style Jacquard “point princesse” in the style of Jean Lurcat. Having an authentication certificate on the reverse. 

Biography: Claude Bleynie was a French artist, born in 1923. He discovered the art of tapestry with Jean Picart le doux in 1952. He exhibited at the La Demeure gallery (from 1958) and participated in the main exhibitions devoted to mural art. His tapestry production counts more than 300 cartoons, mainly realised by the Andraud workshop.


With original woven backing in a forest green and with certificate of authenticity.


Condition: very good condition and colour, the originally backing with small fray and notation only to the back, the tapestry itself without any faults.
