This stunning 'Myer Heritage' piece was made using Tasmanian Myrtle which is a highly coveted expensive wood. It has exceptional strength and density, and a beautiful woodgrain. Myer Heritage was established by Myer Department Stores from the 1940’s through to the 1960’s and were seen as an aspirational purchase for the burgeoning middle class in Australia at the time. Well known furniture designer Fred Ward designed the Myer collection, was heavily influenced by Scandinavian design, and loved to use native timbers in his pieces.
