French Empire - Louis-Philippe Bateau or Sleigh Bed in Solid Walnut
A Lit-en-Bateau or Sleigh Bed, an iconic design of the Late French Empire/Louis-Philippe Period, circa 1830. Somewhere between a King Single and Double size.
Crafted from solid walnut (not veneer), the piece has been lovingly restored while maintaining a beautiful patina. Still with its original iron hardware, this bed is solid and sturdy, and despite its age it is fully functional as a guest bed, child's bed, or daybed.
Minor structural repairs have been undertaken to the underside of one of the headboards to ensure it lasts for generations to come.
The solid fruitwood frame disassembles for transport and is easy to assemble for immediate use.
