Royal Doulton Pansy pattern bowl

This Royal Doulton octagonal bowl is decorated with their ever popular hand painted Pansy pattern. The pattern (pattern D 4049) was introduced in 1917 and withdrawn by 1930. It was mainly an export pattern, being shipped mainly to Australia, Canada and South Africa. It has a diameter of 195 mm (7 5/8ths inches) and it stands 40 mm (1.5 inches) high. There are no cracks or chips, but it does have some crazing and there is a faint scratch to the rim. It carries the impressed date stamp for May 1927.
