This extraordinary cast iron strong box or cellaret, is a rare early example of Regency style design and craftmanship.

Crafted circa 1820, this heavy and substantial piece is a showstopper. It features a sarcophagus shaped design, with foliate cast bands. Embossed impressions of river gods adorn the outer sides and lid.

The box is finished with lion mask and ring pulls to the sides, and the feet are of classic lion paw design.
