The footstool was designed by the Brazilian Modernist Sergio Rodrigues (1927 – 2014). The ‘Mole’ chair and footstool was Rodrigues’ take on the Easy chair and it was the ‘Mole‘ chair that brought him international fame and recognition. The original ‘Mole’ chair was designed in 1952.
This chair and footstool are both fashioned from Brazilian Rosewood or Jacaranda as it is known in Brazil. The upholstery on both chairs is South American leather and they have been reupholstered by Sydney’s premier upholsterer, Atelier Furniture.
