Harding & Halden Lightbox Table
With a nod to Bauhaus sensibilities, this vintage lightbox table has a quiet utilitarian beauty that resides in its opaque glass top, tubular steel frame and the patina of its sheet metal casing. In perfect working order, we focused its restoration on reviving its Tasmanian oak mitered frame and oiling/cleaning its steel structure. The end result is a piece that embraces its character, whilst fulfilling its function. Use it for product displays in a retail setting, artistic pursuits, perusing photograph negatives or as a statement piece in your home/studio.
Manufactured by Harding & Halden of Sydney during the 1950s or early 60s. The company was established in 1922 and were major supplier to government agencies (e.g. CSIRO) over the decades. The lightbox table is a fine and rare example of their work.
Note: the lit images were taken with a full C.T. Straw gel installed to increase warmth.
