Exceptionally Fine Antique Sideboard
A magnificent antique carved walnut mirror-back sideboard made by the famously aristocratic Maple & Co, with a Royal Warrant by Queen Victoria. London, circa 1890.
Brought out to Australia by Dame Elisabeth Murdoch, it was at her home at Cruden Farm. The sideboard is of truly superb quality and grand proportions, featuring triple bevelled mirrors framed by fluted pilasters, carved capitals, and a floriate crest. There is also a lined cellaret drawer for wine.
The drawers have their original, high quality brass handles and escutcheons and very finely carved cupboards. With its rich patina, exquisite craftsmanship, and distinguished provenance, this sideboard epitomizes Victorian elegance and grandeur.
