Antique English Victorian Inlaid Walnut Games Table.
On offer is a good genuine antique English Victorian period 1870s combination Games and Sewing Table which would even make a very good Side Table or Occasional Table. when not being used for games or sewing.
The table is well constructed from solid Walnut and the shaped top section is finished in selected double book leaf matched figured Walnut and then inlaid with fine string inlays and patterns. when the top is swiveled and opened it reveals two parquetry inlaid games boards one being for Chess and Draughts and the other for Backgammon. The frieze section contains a full width contrasting timber lined and fitted storage drawer for games pieces or sewing implements and below again is a timber fabric lined slide out Sewing Box for material storage..
The top section is supported on a pair of end positioned vertical turned, nicely profiled and carved embellished columns which sit on upright cylindrical bases and from which flow short shaped tapered and carved embellished cabriole legs with scrolled feet.
Condition: over all excellent commensurate with age and use plus externally it has recently been professionally sympathetically refurbished at considerable expense.
