Aldo Londi for Bitossi "Sevilla" Vase - Italy, c.1960s

An authentic mid-century ceramic vase from the Sevilla series designed by Aldo Londi for Bitossi, Italy.

Finished in a glowing burnt-orange glaze, this cylindrical form features one of the range’s distinctive applied relief medallions and a carved textural band around the rim. Londi’s work is instantly recognisable - sculptural but restrained, decorative yet architectural. Even without flowers, it reads as an object rather than simply a vessel.

The Sevilla line was produced during Bitossi’s golden period in the 1960s–early 1970s and reflects the shift toward expressive surfaces and tactile ceramics that defined Italian modernism of the era.

The glaze has beautiful tonal variation, moving from deep terracotta to bright ember depending on the light - particularly striking in afternoon sun.

A wonderful collector piece that still feels completely contemporary in a home.

Designer: Aldo Londi
Manufacturer: Bitossi Ceramiche, Italy
Range: Sevilla
Date: c.1960s
Measurements: 21cm H x 10.5cm W

Condition
Excellent vintage condition. No cracks or repairs. Minor glaze variation and small manufacturing irregularities consistent with handmade Italian ceramics of the period.

Styling
Beautiful with:
• dried grasses
• olive branches
• sculptural gum
• or displayed empty as a decorative object

Works especially well with travertine, chrome, timber and darker interiors.

Why We Love It
Bitossi pieces sit in that perfect space between art object and functional design - and the Sevilla range is one of Londi’s more sculptural, less commonly found series. Warm, textured and quietly statement-making.
