19th Century Rectangular Giltwood Wall Mirror
Genuine antique 19th-century rectangular giltwood wall mirror with the original mercury plate mirror having been replaced with a glass mirror pane (circa 1930s).
The elegant rectangular frame is richly adorned with classical gilt gesso decoration, including acanthus leaf corners, trailing floral motifs, and a finely beaded inner moulding. The gilding has mellowed beautifully with age, resulting in a soft, warm patina that enhances its overall character. The mirror retains its original wooden back and shows signs of authentic age, with light foxing — a hallmark of genuine 19th century production.
