19th century French porcelain vases

A rare pair of 19th century French Sevres porcelain and ormolu lidded vases which convert into candelabra.

The porcelain bodies are hand painted on the front section with a romantic scene of a courting couple set in the French country side.

The back of each vase is painted with a village scene.

Signed by the artist E.Sillier

At the top of each vase there is a gilt Rococo style decoration.

The vases are supported on a very finely cast bronze and gilded pedestal.

The base of each pedestal is a square with a stepped profile and features intricate ormolu work, including a wreath design around the base.

Mounted on each side of vases is a finely cast ormolu rams head. In Greek culture the ram figures prominently as a mentor of strength and courage.

Set into the top of each vase is a finely cast ormolu final which is reversible into a candelabra.
